I was just told by iuniverse that my book qualifies for Editor’s Choice but they recommend the copy edit for $1300. Did you pay for it or do your own edit?
    Thanks, Judy

I had iUniverse edit it because it was easier and because I could see them arguing over the quality of any editor I’d hire privately and denying Editor’s Choice. I wouldn’t do my own copy edit because as a writer, you’re too close to the manuscript. I ended up arguing with the iUniverse editors over some of their ideas/grammar suggestions and for the most part prevailed. They also had some good ideas, and my book was definitely better after editing. The only thing I found weird is that they didn’t release the name of the editors to me, so it was like a one-way conversation with faceless entities. BTW, even after copy editing your book, if you can afford it, I’d have it proof read. It’s amazing how many errors can creep through, and it’s a headache trying to find them all yourself. I hope that helps you decide!
