Hair loss has been known to be one of the warning signs of being too stressed out. It's really hard when you know you have falling hair, in unnatural amounts. But we can always learn to cope with it, just like you did :)

BTW, this is a really good post :)

I'm glad to hear your hair loss did stop! No matter the cause, it is awful to see. Discovering the science behind the reason did help to mitigate the worry... a bit. The best part for me is learning that hair does grow back after this sort of loss. So I wait in hope. :)

Thank you very much for your good wishes and kind words!

I enjoyed your article on abnormal hair loss. Being a male, I feel especially sensitive to this peril, but as I push the outer limits of middle age, I seem to have made little progress in terms of balding (thank goodness).

However, shortly after ending a rather strenuous fast this last fall, I noticed the hair brush seemed to be growing more hair than usual, and my pony tail was less hefty. I think it was the telogen effluvium of which you wrote. I've been told the general physiological stress of fasting was likely the trigger for the hair loss, which has now stopped.

May your hair become more enthusiastic about coming back - it probably will over time. Unfortunately the tease of it thickening, then resuming the fall-out is traumatic (it would be for me).

I hope the various stresses are behind you for the most part, and that your creativity will flourish even more than it has to date.
