Jerry, I'm glad my venting helped you! I am blogging on these issues, but slowly. I'll have more to say on this one when I gather my thoughts together. I think the more we share, the more doctors will eventually have to listen. I'm still quite astonished at how fragmented brain injury care is and how so many are ignorant of even current knowledge. Closed head injury is the worst in the sense that neurologists can't see blood or broken bone so it's apparently difficult for them to visualize a broken brain underneath and take our problems seriously.

I was a Paratrooper in the U.S. Army. I received a closed head injury in a parachuting accident. I was called everything but injured. A year and a half later just as I got out of the Army I developed full blown Type 1 diabetes (31 yrs old). I just attended a polytrauma clinic at the Veterans Administration and brought up the question (since no woman in at least five generations has had diabetes) could the head trauma cause Type 1. Now I am finding all kinds of stuff on the net about it. If you have any more info, I sure could use it. Thank you for your venting on the net about this.

LOL!! Naahhh, I wouldn't wish head injury on my worst enemy. I linked to all the articles I have links for -- they're the blue-coloured text. You should be able to print those out, and brainline.org is a great resource for professionals, not just people with brain injury. The rest is just what I was told.

I hope this helps your clients. I have to say finding out I'm not alone, that I wasn't nuts was a huge relief. Thanks Daly!

Would that smack upside the head for the docs be hard enough that they too could experience some of the crap you've had to live with?

I think it might be helpful if you could give references on your blog for the most significant articles you've found. I'd love to then go to the med faculty library, find, and copy, those articles, passing them on to docs I know here, and to the Manitoba Brain Injury Association.

What you are talking about may also explain why a couple of my clients have such incredible difficulties dealing with weight and bloating, so I appreciate the heads-up.

On a personal note, I hope you can surf your anger to some neat new discoveries, and in the process, end up feeling better. Seems to me you have been through too much crap already.
